    Cytosurge, an offshoot of ETH Zurich, specializes in nanotechnology instrumentation solutions driven by its patented force-controlled nano•pipette technology.


    Their products cater to research, nano manufacturing, and quality control across various sectors like life sciences, semiconductors, and mechanical applications. Offering a range of system solutions, Cytosurge adopts a sustainable, consumable-based business model, providing options from entry-level to high-precision instruments.

  • Challenges

    Initially, they relied on a simple FRP software primarily for accounting, invoicing, and basic warehouse management. However, as their production expanded and their team grew, they identified the need to track various aspects such as products, quality, and customer data more comprehensively. To address this, they initially resorted to using Excel and some standalone web applications, lacking integration. Additionally, their basic website prompted them to pursue a modern web presence, potentially incorporating an ecommerce system.


    While their initial solution sufficed during their company's inception, the complexity of their products and operations highlighted its limitations as they scaled. Recognizing the impending challenges in maintaining and scaling their existing system, they began exploring alternative solutions.

  • Solution

    Since they started almost entirely from scratch with their ERP system, they seized the opportunity to integrate as much as possible into Odoo. They now manage almost all their business processes completely in Odoo, all integrated into one system. This includes CRM, Sales, Purchasing, HR, MRP, and Project Management. They also operate their website and ecommerce with Odoo.


    The only aspect they still handle externally is payroll, as Odoo does not support the Swiss payroll as a standard feature. Additionally, they aim to integrate more tightly with Microsoft Office 365, as this is their current email and Document Management solution implemented alongside Odoo.

  • Result

    The modernization of their website resulted in a threefold increase in visitors. They also enhanced overall customer satisfaction through complete traceability and documentation of their production process. Customers now appreciate having access to all their documents in a single account directly on their website.


    While the impact on revenue is not yet measurable as they are still in the final development phase of their next product generation, they have received positive feedback from many customers and suppliers who admire their ERP system in action.
